I am a Certified Sommelier, writer, educator, and sales professional based in California’s Sierra Foothills.
I made the switch to wine in 2011 after spending six months in Italy, where I explored vineyards and tasted everything from high-end Brunello to 1 Euro boxed wine. Since then, I have bartended, taught wine seminars, bought wine for retail shops, and worked as a private sommelier aboard an antique sailboat.
I hold a certificate from America’s oldest wine school, The Sommelier Society of America, as well as being a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
Currently, I spend most of my time sharing and drinking wines from California’s emerging wine regions El Dorado and Amador Counties. I also write the blog Laura Uncorked, where I delve deeper into both alternative, natural wines and unique juice from traditional regions, with a special focus on ideal pairings—be they filet mignon or fast food.
I believe every vinous interaction is an opportunity for education, and I strive to turn everyday drinking into a memorable experience be it on a patio, at a bar, or in the boardroom.
